Hannah Anderson Named Outstanding Junior at 2022 Celebration of Excellence

Hannah Anderson, an agribusiness management major, was named Outstanding Junior at CAFNR’s 2022 Celebration of Excellence awards ceremony, held Tuesday, April 19.

Anderson, who is also minoring in animal sciences, serves as president of Mizzou Collegiate CattleWomen, and has been involved in the equine program as well as the Division of Applied Social Sciences (DASS) director’s office while at MU.

As president of Mizzou Collegiate CattleWomen, Anderson planned multiple events and coordinated numerous industry tours for students. With the equine program, she assisted in the planning and organization of the online horse auction and fundraiser. While Anderson worked in the DASS director’s office, she helped create presentations, reviewed and edited documents, and posted weekly updates to the DASS website, among many other responsibilities.

Anderson recently gained valuable real-world experience as part of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Pathways Internship Program. She worked in rural development, providing information and customer service to the public, initiated and prepared correspondence, served as a loan originator for home repair and purchase loans for low-income applicants in rural areas, and received training and utilized software and information systems to perform work assignments.

“Hannah is the quintessential emerging agricultural leader, blending academic facility with common sense and humility,” said Joe Parcell, DASS division director. “It’s not just that Hannah is academically talented. She has a robust loyalty, a passion to serve, an unassuming personality that inspires trust and a humbleness that hides her abilities. She is an exceptional student, and she was a very strong contributor to my office.”
