Can I receive academic credit?

Visit with your academic adviser to discuss receiving credit for an internship experience. Some majors actually require an internship; most grant academic credit.

When should I begin my search?

Now! If you are reading this, you can start talking to people about internships. Begin planning one to one-and-a-half years in advance. Highly selective sites often have application deadlines six months to a year in advance of the actual start date.

Begin Your Internship Search

1. Clarify goals. What do you want to gain? Write down specific skills, knowledge and experiences you hope to acquire through an internship.
2. Check options on HireMizzouTigers.com and other online sites. Talk to peers (see Facebook internship album) about their internship experiences and how to apply. Don’t limit yourself to advertised positions; many employers will create an internship experience for a great student.
3. Create a list of internships that will meet your needs.
